More Than Just Correcting Nearsightedness

Myopia, or nearsightedness, often begins during childhood and can progress as a child grows. While traditional glasses correct blurry distance vision, myopia management is designed to do more — help slow the progression of nearsightedness over time.

At Ironwood Vision Center, Dr. Garn offers personalized myopia management using treatment options designed specifically for growing eyes.

What is myopia?
UNDERSTANDING MYOPIA

Why Does Myopia Management Matter?

Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long from front to back, causing distant objects to appear blurry.

As myopia progresses, stronger prescriptions may be needed. Higher levels of myopia are also associated with an increased lifetime risk of certain eye conditions.

Managing myopia during childhood gives us an opportunity to help slow that progression while the eyes are still growing.

MiSight® 1 day Contact Lenses

Myopia Control With the Freedom of Contacts

MiSight® 1 day is a daily disposable soft contact lens specifically designed for children with myopia. The lenses provide clear vision while also helping slow the progression of nearsightedness.

Daily disposable lenses also provide the convenience of a fresh pair each day without cleaning or storage.

Essilor® Stellest® Lenses

Myopia Control in an Eyeglass Lens

Stellest® lenses are specially designed spectacle lenses that provide clear vision while helping slow myopia progression in children.

They look and function much like everyday eyeglasses, making them an excellent option for children who prefer glasses or aren't ready for contact lenses.

A simple, non-invasive option worn just like regular glasses.

Dr. Garn will recommend the treatment option that best fits your child’s eyes, lifestyle, age, and needs.
